It will be recalled that students of Federal University of Technology Owerri had on Friday February 17, 2017 gone on rampage to protest what they described as extortionist policies of the University management. In the issuing melee, properties worth millions of Naira belonging to the University were looted and in some cases destroyed prompting the school Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Chukwuemeka Eze to announce indefinite halting of academic activities and subsequent arrests of some student unionists who we understand are now at the verge of being rusticated/expelled.
