The College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) Ondo chapter, has given reasons why it decided to embark on the construction of a multi-million naira hostel accommodation in the institution.
In a short remark while laying the foundation stone of the building in the college, the Provost of the institution, Prof. Olukoya Ogen, lauded the initiative of COEASU, stating that the construction of the hostel would go a long way, in motivating and driving development process in the institution.
Prof. Ogen expressed happiness over the development, and announced a personal donation of 500 blocks, towards the construction of the first phase of the project.
The Provost lauded the leadership of COEASU, and expressed optimism of early completion of the project, stating that it would be the desire of his heart to come back for the commissioning of the building in few months time.
He, however, charged the contractor handling the project to use quality materials and expedite action in its completion, so that the building would stand the test of time, and achieve the purpose for which it was meant.
Describing the project as a step in the right direction, and additional blessings which God has added to the institution, since his assumption of duty in the institution, the College Administrator said the move has opened door for greater achievements that would come the way of theCollege in no distant time, as many private organizations both in Nigeria and abroad from countries which include Spain, had indicated intension to undertake projects in the College, that would add values to it, and move it to the next level.
Prof. Ogen commended members of COEASU for their zeal, foresight and personal sacrifice towards the project, and gave assurance that the College Management under his leadership, would continue to support the body in the actualization of the project.
The brief ceremony held at the building foundation laying site, featured delivery of goodwill messages by the Deputy Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde; Member of ASCOMS hostel building committee, Dr. Olagunju Samuel Olu; President of ASCOMS, Dr. Oloyede Rasheed Owolabi as well as the Chairman, COEASU ACE chapter, Dr. Oziegbe Rufus Tope.
Eminent personalities who graced the occasion include members of COEASU, ACE chapter, staff of the College from the Information and Public Relations Unit led by their head, Mr. Moses Akinfolarin among others.
